Math - Lesson 91

Today

Writing - Finished removing being verbs and illegal words from our papers.  Next step, kill contractions and personal pronouns.

Grammar - Reviewed for grammar test over unit 5 (it's a very small test.  The unit was quite short and the subject matter fairly simple)

Literature - Introduced "Call it Courage".  Discussed genre and what message the author might be trying to communicate.

We wrapped up our Nature Journaling partnership with PreK/JK

We took a math test

We planted cotton in our garden patch

We peer-edited each others research papers!  Killing "being" verbs is tough work :)

Today

Math - Using logic and estimation to find square roots

Grammar - We looked at adverb clauses and the proper use of is/are

Science - Atoms: Electrons, Proton, Neutrons.  Electricity: the movement of electrons.

History - Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo and subsequent exile

Math - Lesson 86: problems 1-15

History - Read Chapter 33 - Take notes over important dates, people, places, and events.  Students worked on this for 30 minutes with partners.

Reading - (this was assigned on Monday) Read the last 3 chapters of Robinson Crusoe and write a 3 sentence summary of each chapter.  We'll discuss our summaries tomorrow.

Grammar - Practice book 5.1-5.2 - Finished in class
